HOPES TO CROSS THE CHANNEL.-Mr Alan Witt, a 21-year-old Brighton chemistry student, shown in the bath-tub in which he hopes to cross the English Channel to France next month to raise money for charity. A keel has been added to the tub to stabilise it. The tub, which weighs 40lb, is shown during trials on Piddinghoe Lake, Newhaven, Sussex. The craft is expected to make five knots to reach France in about 10 hours.
