WORTHY DIEMAN IN TEVIOTDALE TROT
Worthy Dietnan. a minor place-getter in two of Ms four previous races, ran the last furlong of 13 too strongly for his rivals in the TerMdale Trot Handicap at Amberley on Saturday. He gave J. Smolensk! bis first training and driving success since he took over the supervision of C. C. Devine** team during the latter’s abeence in the* United States. Smolensk! had Worthy Diemar on the outer of Kyle View in the fifth line till the home turn. He ran up quickly to Lady Arron, Simmonds and Beeside at the straight entrance and drew out over the last furlong to beat Simmonds by a length. Beeside was a length and a half back third. Simmonds had shared the third line with E'peetre till the home turn and Beeside had run on the outside of Countess Hanover in the line behind them. Countess Hanover, which was late working clear and had to cover extra ground to get into a challenging posi-l
tion, was a length and a half back fourth. She beat Kyle View by half a neck and Elpertre, which tangled a fur-1 long from the end. was next ahead of Axis. Kai Kaha, in a gap, led in the others. Tight Finish

She was forced very wide coming to the (
straight but sustained a brilliant run which just failed tc give her victory. Count Medoro finished solidly to cut Facework out of third. The former had trailed behind the early leader. Del Nuit, but lost his position when, that runner tired< on the home turn.
