Threw Chicken At Manager
(NX. Press AueeUtten) WELLINGTON, May 7. An elderly woman threw a frozen chicken she had stolen at the section manager of a shop on Friday night when he stopped her after she left without paying far a variety of goods, the Magistrate's Court was told yesterday.
In addition to the chicken. Margaret Nsppert, aged 62. a widow, pleaded guilty to stealing two packet* of eheese. lib of butter, a dozen eggs, two cake* of soap, a bottle of detergent, e bottle of glue, a tube of rubber solution, a brooch, and a pair of nylon stocking*. The total value was £3 19*. She was intoxicated when spoken to by the sectton manager and she had thrown the chicken at him and refused to go to his office. She said later she had picked up a few things for a friend who could not afford to pay for them. Mr M. B. Seully. S.M., imposed a fine of £l5.
