Rifle Shooting JACK SHIELD MEETING AT WEST MELTON

The Canterbury Rifle Association held the annual Jack Shield meeting at West Melton range on Saturday. There was a full entry of 15 teams. Conditions were cold with a south-easterly wind.

Several possible* were recorded during the day. These were scored by E. Alexander (Christchurch) at 500 and 600 yards, G. Smith (Malvern) 300 yards. V. Curtis (Christchurch) and J. Boleyn (Banks Peninsula) -both at 600 yards. The n;atch for the shield was closely contested, only four points separating the first "Ave teams. Christchurch No. 2 defeated Timaru No. 1 by one point.
