A 28-acre property at Halswell was passed in at £17,500 when offered at auction in Christchurch yesterday. The property is five miles and a half from the Square, is divided into six paddocks, and can carry more than 20 cows AH the paddocks are watered from an artesian well The buildings include a fourbedroomed house, a hay barn, a four-stand cow bail and a pump house. The house is situated in about one acre of ground laid out with trees and shrubs. Bidding began at £l2 500 and rose in bids of £2500 to the final price. The property was offered on account of Mr Frank Lyman A 25 5 perch section and four bedroomed house at 20 Howard street. Sorevdon. was passed in at £1950 when offered yesterday. Bidding started at £1750 and rose by one £lOO and two £5O bids. The property was offered on account of the estate of Gardiner Thomas Gilbert
