Course For Careers’ Advisers
A three-day course for careers’ advisers in post-prim-ary schools and vocational guidance officers will be held in Christchurch next week. Organised by the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation in conjunction with the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association, this course will be the first of its type to be held in the South Island. In the last two years, the courses have been held in North Island centres. The course will be attended by 24 officers from all parts of the country, and is aimed to demonstrate the opportunities available in New Zealand industry. Discussions will be held with local manufacturers. and visits made to their factories. The course will be officially opened by the Mayor (Mr G. Manning) at the Sign of the Takahe on Tuesday morning. and the visitors will be welcomed by the president of the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association (Mr J. K. Dobson)? The rest of Tuesday will be spent in visits to factories, and on Wednesday morning, the group will be addressed by Mr T. R. Pollard, of the industrial development department of the University of Canterbury. On Wednesday evening there will be group reports and a panel discussion on sales, administration. and research. On Thursday morning, a talk on the clothing industry will be given by Mr C. H. Stockbridge.
