Eight Boys On Liquor And Motoring Charges

WAIMATE, May 3. Eight boys appeared before Mr N. M. Izard, S.M., at a sitting of the Children’s Court in Waimate today, when 15 charges relating to liquor and motoring offences were heard.

Fines of £6 were imposed on ! two boys, who were each i charged with purchasing the > liquor. , Five boys were each fined i £3 on charges of consuming ? liquor in a public place. For using an unregistered motor-vehicle which had no ' warrant of fitness, a boy was fined £3. For driving without due care and attention, another boy was fined £lO, and his driver’s licence was sus- ! pended for 12 months. Two boys who were jointly ' charged with conversion of l cars were placed under the ■ supervision of the Child Welfare Department.
