Firm Market This Week
(Specfal Crspdt W.Z.PA.) LONDON, May 4. Markets have been basically firm this week, in spite of some profit-taking. The pace of recent advances has made many investors more cautious and encouraged them to take some of their profits. Buying was not at heavy as last week, but industrial shares have been able to show a good sprinkling of higher prices. Latest figures of sterling balances were better than expected. The overnight rally on Wall street, and the prospect of an early settlement in the dock strike, helped to keep the market firm today.
