Last Season In Canterbury
As next season would be the third and last that the English professional coach, M. J. Bear, would be coming to Canterbury, he would be very busy and it would not be possible for him to travel outside Christchurch to any great extent, the convener of the Canterbury Cricket Association’s coaching committee (Mr A. Britton) told a meeting between the association and minor and sub-associa-tions last evening. Bear would possibly be able to fit In a week of coaching in North Canterbury in October when he first arrived, Mr Britton said. He would be concentrating On the group coaching scheme again and would prbbablv tour with the Canterbury B team as he had done last season. The committee intended that the coaching scheme should carry on a little closer to Christmas next season and start again in the first 10 days of January so that It got even more value from Bear’s stay in the province There would be an advanced course next season and also a refresher course.
