Chamber Applauds N.Z. Moves

Although it feels the decision to have the matter debated in Parliament is long overdue, the council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce is to write to the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake), expressing its pleasure at the moves made for New Zealand to join the International Monetary Fund. “So far the only moves agreed to are to seek the extent of the present commitments and to instigate a debate in Parliament,” said the chairman (Mr R. H. Clark). “But it has taken 14 or 15 years even to get it on the floor of the House."
