COMMONWEALTH FAIR

Chamber Favours Proposal

Support for a proposal from the Federation of Commonwealth and Empire Chambers of Commerce, London, for a Commonwealth Trade Fair at Dusseldorf in 1963, has been given by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. At its meeting last evening, the chamber’s council w’as asked by the New Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce for its opinion on the proposal. The fair would increase Commonwealth prestige, and being held in Germany, would make an impact on the European market, said the letter. It was decided to advise the New Zealand Associa’ed Chambers of Commerce that the Canterbury chamber supports the move in principle, and recommends that the proposal be supported after consultation with primary marketing boards to ensure their interest.
