Speed Of Ministerial Cars
Sir.—Two Ministerial cars, preceded by a traffic department car. passed up the North road today at an excessive and dangerous speed, ignoring all 30 miles per hour restrictions. It is a miracle some children in Belfast were not killed. I understand Ministers of the Crown are exempt from traffic laws in times of emergency, but no such state exists in Canteribury today. Why. then, the I hurry?—Yours, etc., MOTORIST. I April 26. 1960. [The District Officer of the | Christchurch Transport Department (Mr D. L. Hogan) | said: “Speed was necessary in i this case owing to the late I arrival of a special aircraft. I F6r safety, a traffic car escort, with siren, was proIvided.”]
