Philippine Arms Decision

(N ZP.A -Reuter—Copyright) MANILA, May 5. The Philippine National Security Council voted unanimously early today to commit troops to Laos should the South-east Asia Treaty Organisation decide to take military action there. The vote came during s meeting which began last night and continued until early this morning. A communique issued after the meeting said the Philippine Government was determined “faithfully to comply with its obligations under the treaty and specifically under the resolution of the S.E.A.T.O. Council of Ministers of March 29, 1961.” The resolution, issued in Bangkok. said S.EA.T.O. would take the "necessary action” if peaceful means failed to solve the crisis in Laos.
