Fencing MATCH AGAINST AUSTRALIANS
Canterbury Team Selected
The fencing match between the touring Australian Universities’ team and the Canterbury provincial team will be held on the afternoon and evening of Thursday, May 18. at the university gynasium. The normal order of matches has been changed, as some fencers are not available during the afternoon. The order of matches will be epee, sabre (in the afternoon), women’s foil, men’s foil. The foil matches will be held using visual foil, for perhaps the last time in a mafor match in the South Island. The epee match will be held using electrical equipment. The teams to represent Canterburv. with names in order of selection, are:— Women’s foil: Mrs O. Jekyll, Mrs E. McElwee, Miss P. Eliott, Miss U. Woods, Miss B. Murray. Miss M. Soeterik. Men’s foil: E. Thomas, M. Woods, R. O’Driscoll. J. Hanna, F. Hogg. B. Mclntyre, P. Sharp. Sabre: O’Driscoll. Hanna, Woods, R. Harvest. Hogg. Epee: Woods, Hanna. Hogg, O’Driscoll.
