Charge Of Arson

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 3

Lajos Lakatos, aged 40. a storekeeper, set fire to property in a basement with the intention of claiming insurance. the Crown Prosecutor, Mr W. R. Birks, alleged in the Wellington Supreme Court today. Lakatos, a Hungarian, is charged before Mr Justice McGregor with wilfully set. ting fire to a dwellinghouse in Mortimer terrace in the city, thereby committing arson.

The accused was represented by Mr L. G. Rose, with him Mr I. A. Borrin.

This afternoon's hearing was occupied with the evidence of prosecution witnesses. The case continues tomorrow.
