Chemical Basis Of Heredity

Sloan-Kettering Institute researchers report that they have isolated intact for the first time the genetic material in human sperm which is believed to transmit characteristics from one generation to the next. The complex chemical molecule, called desoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), is believed to cause various diseases when its structure is abnormal. New researches may be able to compare normal and abnormal DNA from sperm and test that theory. The achievement may also further efforts to study the chemical basis of heredity.
