Mr Walsh Again President

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 3 Mr F. P. Walsh today retained the presidency of the Federation of Labour by a margin of 154 votes over Mr H. J. Allen, secretary of the Workers' Union. In the first election for the office since he gained it in 1953. Mr Walsh polled 249 while Mr Allen polled 95 The election was a clean sweep for the present executive. the vice-president. Mr T. F. Skinner (209 votes > retaining his position by a margin of 74 votes over three opponents—Mr F. L. Langley <53 votes’. Mr W. C. McDonell (66) and Mr W B Richards (16)—the best support Mr Skinner has had since gaining the office. The members of the executive keeping their places were Messrs F. L. Fenton <303 votes), L. A. Hadley (310), J H. Thompson (220). and J E Napier <229). The two unsuccessful candidates were W. F. Molineux (119) and R Toole (179).
