£90,000 Hotel Conversion
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 3. The> seven-storey TransTasman Hotel building is to be strengthened with a new steel framework at a cost of £90.000 The contract, between the owners, New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., and N. Cole. Ltd., was signed today. The building is to be converted into an office block. All varieties of fish werej plentiful in the Christchurch fish markets yesterday with the exception of flat fish. Groper sold from 3s to 3s od a pound, and flounders from, 2s 9d to 3s a pound. Whole sole sold at 2s 9d and sole fillets at 4s a pound. Tarakihi sold from 3s to 3s 6d a pound and gurnard from 2s 2d to 2s 3d. Crayfish was scarce, selling from 4s to 4s fid a pound. No oysters are expected for a few days.
