FACTORY PERMIT IN COUNTY

“Council Made Own Decirion” The Eyre County Council has made , its own decision on an application for a factory to be established in its area, and had made it without pressure from anyone, said Mr T. E. Rowlands, of Eyre, to the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority yesterday. The council had received a confidential application from a manufacturing industry in Australia, he said. “We thought there were several matters on which we could not make a decision ourselves, so we obtained advice from the Regional Planner (Miss N. Northcroft). “We were most concerned to see a report in which the Mayor of Kaiapoi (Mr O. M Williams) said the authority had exerted pressure on the council. It was quite unfair. Eyre is quite capable of making its own decisions after taking the best advice.”
