INDUSTRIAL ZONE

Reserves As “Buffer”

With an area of land bounded by Wairakei road, Stanleys road. Harewood road and the urban fence reserved as an industrial zone, the Waimairi County Council proposed to the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority yesterday that there should be a “buffer” between the residential and industrial areas.

It considered that there should be a two-chain wide buffer area of reserves. “The council is to be commended for its decision," the authority's executive said yesterday. Miss N. Northcroft, the Regional Planner, said it was probable that most of the reserves would be planted as plantations, but it was possible that some playing reserves could be provided.
