Directors of North Broken Hill, Ltd., Australian leadzinc producer, expect profit to fall by £200.000 to about £1.050,000 for the year to June 30. In a preliminary report, they state that the estimate is based on the experience of the first nine months of thi year and on the assumption that present conditions continue. Of the estimated net profit, it is expected that net investment income will account for £581.000 (down £46,000). Dividend Directors have declared an interim dividend of 5d a 10s share. Last year the company paid an interim of 2s 6d a 5s share before a nine-for-one bonus and consolidation into 10s units. The estimated profit will be after tax and royalty of £127.000 (down £285.000). but before deduction for plant and development of £155,000 (up £21,000). SCHWEPPES AUSTRALIA Forecast Rate Of Dividend Schweppes ( Australia). Ltd., cordial makers, will pay a first public interim dividend of 34 per cent This is at the 7 per cent, yearly rate foreshadowed by the directors when making the public issue last December Profit for the December half-year was higher than that for the previous corresponding period, directors report. Turnover also increased and has been maintained at a satisfactory level for the current half-year. Henry Jones.— An interim dividend of 6d a share is pavable on June 1, ex May 17.—P.A. Waitomo Take-over.— The shareholders in Waitomo Portland Cement. Ltd., holding 3.044.392 shares out of the total issued capital of 3200,000 shares have accepted the offer by the Golden Bay Cement Company. Ltd. Announcing this yesterday, the chairman of Golden Bay (Sir John Bott) said this represented more than 95 per cent, acceptance.—P.A.
