COMMERCIAL Sharp Price Movements On ’Change Yesterday
In active trading, share prices moved erratically in Christchurch and on other New Zealand exchanges yesterday. Both New Zealand and overseas-domiciled issues showed several sharp price variations. Cory-Wright and Salmon shares, in first reported business since March 24, rose 3s 3d to 34s 6d. A one-for-5 bonus issue was announced on April 8. Norvic Shoes gained 9d in a week. Forest Products, sold as cheaply as 35s 3d two weeks ago, recovered further in northern business at 36s 9d. Wright. Stephenson shares eased back further from last week’s peak of 58s 9d. English, Scottish and Australian Bank shares, which rose shan>ly in overseas business last week, had first New Zealand business since April 10. At 37s (in Dunedin), they showed a gain of 6s on Auckland business three weeks earlier. Clyde Industries, which fell Is 3d in Australia last week, were down Is 6d in first New Zealand business for two weeks. Other price changes in overseas issues were mainly small.
