CHANGE MADE TO STEREO
Recorded Music Society
The Christchurch Recorded Music Society will give its first recital on its new stereophonic equipment at Begg's concert hall tomorrow nigh*. The society believes its new reproducer ranks with the best obtainable, according to its president, Mr L. W. E Mcllroy. The programme for tomorrow's recital consists of Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” Overture, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 (the “Emperor”), a suite from Handel’s “Water Music,” an aria from "The Barber of Seville" sung by Maria Callas, and Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony. At another recital on May 18, a stereophonic demonstration disc will be played. Also on this programme will be Rossini’s “Semiramide” Overture, operatic arias sung by Joan Hammond, Bach arias sung by Kathleen Ferrier, and Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony.
