GIRLS' DORMITORY ENTERED
Youth Sent To Borstal (NZ. Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 1. Borstal training was imposed on Melvin Arthur Blondell, aged 17. a workman, by Mr N. M. Izard. S.M., at Oamaru today after pleading guilty to a charge of being found without lawful excuse in a dormitory at Waitaki Girls’ High School on April 30. and to stealing an electric razor from a hotel at Kurow on April 30.
Blondel! woke a 14-year-old boarder in the dormitort’ at 11.30 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. by placing his arms across her bed. according to prosecution evidence.
When asked to go. Blondell had stood on her bunk, and woken a girl above. He had then gone along the dormitory and woken a third girl by placing his arms across her bed.
Imposing sentence. the Magistrate said that accused had been placed under supervision for 12 months when he had previously appeared in the Children’s Court, and eight months later had been nlaced on probation for stealing monev from milk bottles The present offences had been committed while he was on’ probation.
