Resolution On Paper Sizes

The Federation of Master Printers is opposed to the introduction of international paper sizes without full discussion among all bodies concerned.

The following resolution was passed after discussion in committee on the last day of the federation’s annual conference in Wanganui today:

“That, while the federation supports standardisation when it is economically sound, or otherwise in the national interest, it strongly opposes the introduction into use in New Zealand of the international paper sizes, without full discussion between the Government departments concerned, the Master Printers’ Federation, the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association, the Paper Merchants' Association, the Commercial Stationers’ Guild, the New Zealand paper manufacturers, the Graphic Arts Supplies Association, and other users, and that the Minister of Industries and Commerce be approached and asked to give an assurance that such discussion will take place if the adoption of the ‘din’ signs is mooted ” Election of Officers

The following officers were unanimously re-elected: President, Mr R. E. Worts (Wellington); vice-president. Mr E. P. Salmon (Auckland); councillors, Messrs V D Rabone (Palmerston North>. H. N. Smellie (Dunedin). V S. Smith (Auckland). H B Wright (Auckland), and W F. Lietz (Auckland).
