FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—Pressures are low to the north-east of the North Island. A trough of low pressure is moving north-eastwards over the South Island. Forecast:— Nelson and Marlborough.—Moderate north-west winds developing, freshening about the sounds; cloud increasing during the day with some light rain developing during the afternoon or evening; a change to moderate southerly winds is likely in the evening; temperatures moderate but colder with the southerly Outlook: showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate or fresh westerlies developing but becoming light and variable later in the day. Scattered rain spreading northward during the day but becoming fine again from the south later. Temperatures becoming cooler. Outlook: fine. Canterbury.—Moderate north-easterly winds about the coast and variable winds inland at first. Cloudy skies with some scattered rain spreading from the south during the morning but moderate to fresh southerly winds with colder showery weather developing during the afternoon. Outlook: showers.
