Royal Tour Of Ghana This Year

MSWXM, April 27. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Ghana ter 11 days from November 10. Buckingham Palace announced today. They will visit Sierra Leone for six days from November 25. and Gambia for three days from December 3. The official announcement said that the Queen and the Duke ef Edinburgh would fly back to the United Kingdom from Dakar on December fi. The Royal visit to West Africa, originally planned for the autumn of 1959, had to be postponed as the Queen was then expecting her third child. , . The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel in the Royal yacht Britannia during part pf the tour , but no further details of the visits are yet available. At' the end of her visit to
Rome next week, the Queen will have a private audience lasting about 20 minutes with Pope John, it was announced today. With the Duke of Edinburgh she will talk to the Pope in French without interpreters, the British Minister to the Holy See (Sir Peter Scarlett) told a news conference. The Queen will wear a long black dress with a veil, and will be received according to the protocol for nonRoman Catholic Heads of State. There will be no exchange of orders, as is customary with Roman Catholic Heads of State, but presents will be exchanged. During the ceremonial entry to the Vatican Palace, ! the Queen will be greeted by 600 priests from all parts ' of the Commonwealth. The Vatican library is arranging a special exhibition on May 5 of illuminated manuscripts and correspondence between the Vatican and British Royalty. The Queen will visit the Borgia apartments and the Raphael rooms of the Vatican privately. Then she will drive to Rome airport to , board her plane for Ancona, where the Royal yacht Britannia will be waiting.
