Seamen On Charges
(HX Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 30. Tn the Magistate’s Court, Dunedin. yesterday, five members of the crew of the SS. Ceramic appeared before Messrs W. C. R. Bird and W. Cormack, Justices of the Peace, on a series of charges. Leonard Norman Pattison. *gcd 26, a seaman deckhand, and George Arthur Newton, aged 24. an assistant steward, were each charged with behaving in a disorderly manner.
John David Smith, aged 21. a male nurse, was charged with assaulting Constable J R Harrison.
Robert Connor, aged 20 a seaman deckhand, was charged with resisting Constable J. J. Orlowski and also with using obscene language. John Alfred Mamey, aged 21. an assistant steward, was charged with obstructing Constable Orlowski. Each was remanded until Monday, bail being allowed at £5O, with a surety of £5O. The Ceramic sailed this morning for New Plymouth.
