FULLER FIRE FLAG COMPETITION
Twelve scout troops and five senior scout troops from Canterbury took part in the annual Fuller Fire Flag competition held at Rawhiti Domain on Saturday. The competition was started in 1917 when scouts helped to fight a fire in the old Fullers’ Music Hall. In appreciation of the scouts’ help the management of the hall gave the flag to be competed for each year. The competition is divided into two parts. A four-man team has to erect a standpipe. then run out two lengths of hose, fit a Y union and then attach another length of hose with a nozzle.
A three-man team has to erect a standpipe, then fit three lengths of hose and a nozzle. Trtie competitions are held under fire brigade rules. Four senior scout teams also took part tn a first-aid competition which Involved the treatment of a casualty. Results are:—
