VOLUNTARY UNIONISM

Interest Of Printers (N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, April 30. I “We of the printing industry have never had industrial strife. We hope and expect that our relations with our employees will always be good,” said Mr R. E. Worts, of ' Wellington, in his presidential address at the annual conference of the Federation of Master Printers ot New Zealand, in Wanganui yesterday. Mr Worts said the question of th* restoration of voluntary unionism was exercising the minds of many people in the industry. “The most I can say atihis moment is that I support unionism,” Mr Worts said.

"But whether any person should be compelled by law to be a member of a trade union, or other organisation for that matter, is a different question altogether. The council will give .full consideration to this issue when the Government’s proposed legislation is known.”
