S.I. Carnation Society
The increasing popularity of carnations was mentioned by the president of the South Island Carnation Society (Mr W. B. Olorenshaw) in his report presented at the annual meeting of the society recently. The society was indebted to the New Zealand Lily Society for its display at the annual show and to Mr J. Walling for providing two film evenings for members and friends of the society, said the report. Public interest in the society had been noticeable with attendances at a dianthus table show, at the annual show, and at field days. Officers elected were patron, Mrs W. B Wood: president. Mr E. F Margetts; vicepresident, Mr W. B. Olorenshaw; secretary. Mr N. McL. Shaw; auditor, Mr S. M. Duff: committee. Mesdames M. Beaven, E. M. Clements, Cherry, E. G. Edwards, J Sutton, Miss I. Ward, Messrs H. P. T. Archbold. W. Adams, S. Cherry, E. G. Edwards, N. E. Fehsenfeld, C. Hayward, and D. Lingard.
