Debutantes Presented At G.H.S. Ball
Nineteen debutantes were presented last evening to the president of the Christchurch Girls’ High School Old Girls’ Association (Mrs R. S. W. Owen) at the association's annual debutante ball in the Winter Garden. The girls had been trained by Miss E. Cornyns Thomas, and were presented by the first assistant of the school (Miss B. A. Waller). The association colours of red, navy blue, powder blue, and silver were represented in a huge pedestal bowl of flowers in the foyer. The debutantes were presented with multi-coloured posies, a gift from the association. Mrs Owen wore a gown of smoke-blue and silver brocade. It was made with a wide, square neckline and bell-shaped skirt finished at the back waistline with a hand-made rose.
