CATTLE SALE AT METHVEN
Main Demand From Local Buyers There was a full yarding of cattle at the cattle sale held at Meth ven on Thursday, with the bulk of the entry consisting of Aberdeen Angus beasts and a smaller offering of He refords and Shorthorns. Prices for the top cattle were not as firm as those at the recent sale at Tinwald, although rates remained firm for the smaller cattle. Most of the entries were from the Methven district and the Rakaia Gorge, and the demand came in the main from local buyers. The quality of the yarding was very good, with the top price of £2B being paid for a pen of steer calves. Values were:— Steers good quality, up to £2B: smaller. £lB to £2O; heifers, good quality, up to £24; smaller £l5 to £l7.
