Charles Fails To Qualify (N Z P.A -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, April 27. The New Zealander Bob Charles, failed to qualify for the final 36 holes in the professional golf tournament at Nottinghamshire today. • Charles scored 144 (72, 72) for the first 36 holes. Leading the tournament was the British Ryder Cup player Bernard Hunt who smashed through cold wind and rain for a record-equal-ling 66. His total of 133 strokes pul him one stroke in front of his two fellow Ryder Cup men, Peter Alliss and Harry Weetman, who scored 66’s for totals of 134. The South Australian, Bob Tuohy, just scraped in among the 49 qualifiers. He hit a 69 for a total 142 after a first round 73. Bobby Locke (South Africa) also failed to make the qualifiers.
