PAPANUI HIGH SCHOO

Selection Of New Pupils In the selection of new pupils at the Papanui High School for the coming year preference will be given to three groups of pupils. These groups will be applicants living nearest the high school; applicants who are brothers and sisters of present and former pupils; and applicants who are sons and daughters of former pupils. But the groups will not be considered in any special order of preference. A report tn “The Press” yesterday of a meeting of the Papanui High School board could create the impression that applicants living nearest the school would be given first preference, said Mr L. B. Newton, principal of the school. That was not so. If such a preference were given it could mean that if there were sufficient applicants In that group those in the other two groups would not be considered. That was neither the intention nor the policy of the board.
