TECHNICAL TRAINING
Plans For Special Week The Commonwealth Technical Training Week committee in Christchurch had almost completed Its plans for observing the week, and activities would be consistent with those arranged in other cities and towns throughout New Zealand, said the district superintendent of the Labour Department in Christchurch (Mr C. P. Collins) yesterday. Mr Collins is chairman of the committee. During the week, which would begin on May 29, the committee would endeavour, with the help of other organisations, to demonstrate by special displays the need for young people to tram for the future, said Mr Collins. ‘The committee hopes special services in local churches on May 28 will be the forerunner to the week. Window displays by more than 40 industrial organisations. Government departments. branches of the armed services, local bodies and corporations and others especially connected with training and teaching of youngsters will be featured.” The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) will declare the week open in Christchurch at a civic luncheon on May 29.
