FISHERMAN DROWNED

Two Companions In Hospital (N Z Press Association) ROTORUA. April 28. A man was drowned and two companions were admitted to Rotorua Hospital suffering from exposure as a result of a boating accident on Lake Tarawera last night The dead man was Keith Cohen, married, a hairdresser. of Auckland. aged about 60. The men admitted to hospital after spending several hours in the cold water, are Gene Charles Matchitt. single, aged 27. and John Bell, married. with five children, aged 29. both carpenters, of Rotorua. Their condition today was described as “fairly satisfactory.” Messrs Matchitt and Bell were rescued at 8 a.m. today by Mr C. Campbell, who set out at 5.45 a.m. to search for the three men. who were reported overdue from a fishing expedition. He found the boat and shortly afterwards located Messrs Bell and Matchitt on the shore near Twin Creek Bay.
