African Homes Raided

(N.Z Press Asm.—Copyright) JOHANNESBURG, April 28. Scores of security detectives and police raided a number of homes and offices yesterday searching for evidence in connexion with proposed “stay at home” strikes and demonstrations next month on the eve of South African republic day. No arrests were reported but police confiscated large numbers of documents and other articles. Associated Press said.

The raids, mainly on nonwhite homes of known African Nationalist leaders, were carried out almost simultaneously and by a prearranged plan over a wide area of the city.
