Oil For Squeaks.—Road squeaks which disappear in wet weather are often due to friction between metal and rubber parts. These are not to be treated with ordinary oils, which have a destructive effect on rubber. Hydraulic brake fluid is a suitable lubricant, but needs frequent renewal. Special rubber lubricants based on silicones are successful and use may also be made of powdered graphite.
