CLAIM BY MAORI LAND BOARD
£2OO Back Rent For Fire Station Land (From Our Own Reporter) GRBYMOUTtt” April 27. The Maori Land Board has made a claim from the Grevmouth Fire Board for £2OO for back rent. The claim was discussed at a meeting of the Are board this week, when the Maori board pointed out that there was no lease recorded of the Central Fire Station in Greymouth. In seeking £2OO for the period the fire board had occupied the site in . the Maori reserve without a lease, the land board offered a right to take out a 21years - lease at £24 a year rental. After considerable discussion. the fire board decided to ask the Greymouth Borough Council for a copy of the conditions applying to the sale of the land, goods, and chattels on which the station now stands, to the board on or about the year 1908.
