P.E.N. ANNUAL MEETING
“No Recognition For Writers” (NZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 27. Writers received no formal recognition in New Zealand and were conspicuously absent from honours lists, said Mr M. H. Holcroft, the retiring president of -the New Zealand centre of the P.E.N., at the annual general meeting in Wellington recently, says a supplied report. The centre had made representations to the Government on the need for more generous literary awards, and on aspects of the laws relating to copyright and literary censorship, which had led writers throughout the country to express their concern, said the report.
