Retirement Of President A large sheaf of flowers and many tributes of appreciation were given to Mrs C. D. Newton, retiring president of the Canterbury Federation of Country Women's Institutes, at the federation’s annual meeting in Christchurch yesterday. Mrs Newton has been president for the last four years and has represented the institutes at many women’s meetings in the city. She has also travelled widely in Canterbury and other centres on behalf of the federation and has visited many individual institutes for special meetings and celebrations. Her successor is Mrs L. M. Kellaway of the Hillsbor-ough-Heathcote C.W.I. who was elected to office yesterday.
Executive committee members are as follows:—Vicepresidents. Mesdames W, McDiarmid (Bryndwr) and S. T. Page (Sheffield); secretary, Mrs C. A. Cornish (Rapaki); treasurer, Mrs A. Hodgkinson (South Brighton); committee, Mesdames J. M. Cronin (Burwood). E. H. Green (Lyttelton), R. J. Howard (Springfield), J. M. Naughton (Greendale). The presentation of service badges was as follows: Mrs J. Anderson (Burwood), Mrs A. M. Drew (Christchurch Centre), Mrs EL Westaway (Kirwee).
