Building Fund For Karitane Many parents who had received help from Karitane nurses had shown their appreciation by sending in contributions of cash and in kind to a market held recently in aid of the Karitane Hospital Building fund, says a report from a recent meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Plunket Society. The sum of £364 was raised by the market for the building fund. Thanks were expressed to the many farmers who had responded to the appeal for the building fund and to business firms which had assisted with the appeal. »o Mrs N. M. Peryer presided. Newly-elected presidents of sub-branches were welcomed as follows: Mrs W. N. Barker (New Brighton), Mrs W Whiteley (Opawa-St. Martins), Mrs R. Hand (Somerfield), and Mrs B. Gilmour < Bryndwr). Appreciation was expressed ot the work done for the society by immediate pastpresidents of these subbranches.

Arrangements were made for Founder's Day to be held on May 15, when members would re-dedicate themselves to the work of the society. Mrs J. M. Mitchell was elected a member of the committee and Mrs A. A. Crerar’s resignation was received with regret. The St. Albans sub-branch recently raised £l7 by holding a “hard-up” party. The Sumner sub-branch raised £7O by holding a stall. Donations Donations to the Karitane Hospital general fund were received from the following: Ashburton branch and subbranches, £144 ss; Cust subbranch, £5; Sumner subbranch, £10; Woolston Mothers’ Club. £5: Ohoka sub-branch. £5; WoodendWaikuku sub-branch. £5 ss; Kaiapoi Mothers' Club, £5; Jtokitika branch and subbranches, £5O; Church Corner sub-branch, £5 ss; Rangiora sub-branch. £3O; OpawaSt Martins sub-branch, £5, Sefton sub-branch. £5; Lyttelton branch, £lO 10s.
