EXERCISE.—British and Commonwealth navies have been taking part in the South-East Asia Treaty Organisation’s biggest exercise since the war in the South China Sea, off North Borneo. The force included ships, aircraft, and assault troops of all the participating countries. The Royal Fleet auxiliary Tidereach is shown refuelling three ships simultaneously. The New Zealand cruiser Royalist is on the right, and H.M.S. Yarmouth, a frigate, on the left. In the rear is the British cruiser Belfast.
