Steady Trend This Week (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright I SYDNEY. April 26 Share prices were mainly steady on the Sydney Stock Exchange this week after recent strong rises, although a definite weakening trend was evident on Wednesday, the exchange’s weekly review said today. Th ordinary share price index rose 2.07 points to 302.42 on Tuesday after last week’s gain of 5.34 points. This week’s rise in the index was mainly due to B.H.P.’s strong gain. B.H.P. which closed around 74s 6d last week, reached 77s 9d, ex dividend. Allowing for the recent one for two bonus this is by far the highest price recorded bv B.H.P. Heavy buying from U.S.A, sources is the main reason for the recent gains Nearly 60.000 B.H.P. shares were traded in Sydney on Monday. By Wednesday afternoon B.H.P. had fallen back to 755.
