t A firmer trend among New Zealand shares was apparent on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Ten issues were firmer and only four were weaker. Australian shares and rights were mainly steady, with rises and falls evenly balanced. Broken Hill Proprietary shares were again very firm, rising to 68s in Christchurch and Wellington.
New Zealand Insurance, South British Insurance, Fletcher Holdings, and Forest Products headed the rises among New Zealand shares. Hay’s shares and rights were weaker.
