SECRETARY RESIGNS
Mr 0. W. Pitcaithly To Leave N.Z. The resignation of Mr O W. (Oily) Pitcaithly as secretary of the Canterbury Surf Life-saving Association was received with regret at last evening's meeting of the association. He has held the position for about five years Mr Pitcaithly’s reason for relinquishing the position is that he plans to settle in Australia. An accountant. Mr Pithcaithly is a member of the Taylor’s Mistake Club “He is the finest secretary I have ever worked with,” said Mr L. J. Tointon, the association's publicity officer. He wished Mr Pitcaithly well in the future. A delegate from each of the six surf clubs in Canterbury praised Mr Pitcaithly’s work. Several others also spoke. A vote of thanks was recorded in the minutes.
As yet, no replacement had been found for Mr Pitcaithly, said the chairman (Mr F L. Mitchell). However, Mr M Restall, the present treasurer of the association, had offered to fill the position until the annual meeting.
