STUDENTS’ “RAID”
Punishment Meted Out (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 26. Students of the Auckland University school of engineering at Ardmore who "raided” the student hostel of O'Rorke Hall in Symonds street last Thursday are being severelypunished by the university authorities. Explosions and the setting off of flares formed part of the “raid.” which alarmed maternity patients in the adjoining Wakefield Private Hospital. Action has been taken against the students from two quarters: the dean of the school has imposed a fine of £5 each on every student responsible, while the professorial board has ordered that the cost of physical damage to university property and personal property at O'Rorke Hal! be a charge on the students. The board has further ruled that the students will be debarred from taking part in the capping procession ot attending the graduation ceremony, except those actually taking degrees. Lectures will be held as usual at Ardmore on procession day, and the students will be expected to attend them.
