Commission Of Jurists (N .Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) GENEVA, April 26. Sir Leslie Munro, of New Zealand, has been appointed secretary-general of the International Commission of Jurists, it was announced today. Sir Leslie Munro will take the place of a Swiss lawyer. pointed New Zealand Ambassador to the United States and permanent representative to the United Nations in 1952. He was elected President of the General Assembly in 1957 and he headed the special body reporting to the United Nations on the implementation of the Assembly’s resolution on Hungary. The International Commission of Jurists represents about 39.000 members of the legal community in 62 countries of the world. Its main objectives are to clarify, promote and defend the rule of law, to strengthen the associated legal procedures and institutions and to obtain its acceptance.
