Post For Colonel R. E. Johnston A well known Army athlete, Lieutenant-Colonel ft. E. Johnston, has been appointed commandant of Burnham Military Camp. He was formerly area officer of Area 10 in Christchurch with the rank of major. , Lieutenant-Colonel Johnston was educated in Auckond, and graduated from >untroon Military College in IMO. His first appointment was in the Southern Military Districts school of instruction. Later he was adjutant of the Otago Mounted Rifles. During World War H he served with several units in the* Pacific and the Middle . As ah athlete he competed with considerable success in quarter and half-mile events against strong international tompetition in the Middle Eash He retains an interest in hockey and basketball.
